#49: I've not seen all the films on your list by any means - from those I have I'd rate In The Mood For Love, 2046 and Old Boy the highest IMO - all three are very stylised and I like that sort of thing. Tetsuo-Body Hammer is a little bit 'WTF!!' for me but an interesting idea nonetheless. Ichi The Killer was interesting in some respects but in others just made me laugh myself silly (kinda worrying...but it was just too 'hammer horror' not to).

And I'd agree - 'asian influenced' don't count...especially if that really means 'american remakes'. Are US audiences really that phobic about foreign language films? They're missing out on a lot of good stuff if thats the case.

There have actualy been quite a few decent asian 'genre' movies made in the US, or by US/non-asian peeps.

Would say van damn's Knock Off was one of the most notable, and in fact best.

Should never be precious about this sort of stuff I reckon, have to decide whether you are watching movies for enjoyment and to open your mind to new shit, or just as a badge to wear.

Watched Lady Vengence this weekend and loved it. Not as good as Old Boy but still a great film.

Sympathy For The Underdog I just saw this movie again, and I must say I hope everyone here gets to see this well made classic.

I love it more each time I watch it.

I'm too tired to look through all the posts to see what's been mentioned already, but I highly recommend any/all of the Zatoichi films. And that includes the remake. I've seen 15 of the films so far and not one single one has been a dud. I've loved every single one of them. I just got "Zatoichi's Revenge" to watch tonight- something to look forward to.
